Hampers

The hampers that were given to the members of each household was a quick supplement to sustain the family until we were able to obtain the funds in our account to use for the members. The hamper was split into two delivers due to the supply issues of the store.

Part one delivered on 21 March 2020 included: 4 boxes kraft noodles, 2x pasta, pasta sauce x2, peanut butter, 2x cans of salmon and 2x canned corn beef, 4x beans, large flour, box of minute rice, 18 eggs large, large marble cheese, canola oil, 12 case of soup, 4x cans vegetables, 2x klik.

The social client received ½ of the amount of a social cheque from the Covid 19 funding that was given to them on the 23 March 2020. These funds were to assist social clients to purchase more food and supplies in view of Covid 19. Old age security arrived on the 27 March 2020. On the 1 April 2020 the social client received their usual full social cheque. GFN was trying to make sure everyone would have been able to purchase the food that they needed.

The second part of the first hamper was delivered 4 April 2020 as there was not enough supply at the store to complete the whole hamper in one go which included: 2x evaporated milk, baking powder, second bag of flour for large family, quick oats, second minute rice for large families, and 2 cans of peaches. Smaller families received smaller portions of the same items.

Stores are having difficulty keeping up as we are not the only people who are purchasing extra supplies and all are doing their best to keep up as is Gambler First Nation.

Those who are volunteering their time, energy and personal safety issues to care for the members on Gambler First Nation as essential workers should be thanked applauded and shown appreciation for their dedication for volunteering and rising to the occasion.

Further supplies are on order and Gambler is awaiting shipment from suppliers as they receive supplies.

We continue to encourage all members to stay at home and practice social distancing.

Thank you.
