Position Summary
Gambler First Nation is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Rehabilitation Assistant (TERM) to support children and clients under the Jordan’s Principle Child First Initiative.
Under the direct supervision of the Jordan’s Principle Case Manager, and in close collaboration with Speech-Language Pathologists, Occupational Therapists, and Physiotherapists, the Rehabilitation Assistant will provide hands-on rehabilitation support aligned with approved Care Plans and therapeutic recommendations.
The successful candidate will play an essential role in supporting children and families to achieve their highest level of independence, well-being, and self-confidence in a culturally safe and respectful environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, high-quality personal care to children and clients in a culturally respectful and trauma-informed manner
- Support and reinforce rehabilitation goals as outlined by Speech-Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists, and Physiotherapists
- Assist children/clients in following their individualized Care Plans
- Implement therapist-recommended follow-up activities and therapeutic exercises
- Support skill development to enhance independence, confidence, and daily functioning
- Collaborate effectively with the Jordan’s Principle team and external service providers
- Maintain respectful, professional relationships with children, families, and caregivers
- Prepare, document, and submit written reports and progress notes in a timely manner
- Uphold confidentiality, ethical standards, and Jordan’s Principle policies at all times
- Participate in team meetings, training, and program-related activities as required
Qualifications & Requirements
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated commitment to confidentiality, professionalism, and ethical practice
- CPR and First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Dependable, organized, and responsible with strong time-management skills
- Supervisory or leadership experience is considered an asset
- Knowledge of First Nation traditions, culture, and community values is a strong asset
- Proficiency in the Ojibway language is considered an asset
- Must successfully pass:
- Criminal Record Check
- Child Abuse Registry Check
