Chief Operating Officer, Civil Construction Division Gambler Management LP

Gambler Management LP (“Gambler”) is a privately held investment firm responsible for managing the business assets of the Gambler First Nation. Gambler is forecasted to generate superior returns from private equity-like investments including existing operating companies and land development. The Board’s focus is to ensure existing ventures are profitable and that additional acquisitions are profitable, sustainable and leverage synergies between businesses. The longer-term vision involves opportunities to diversify the investment portfolio both geographically and across business sectors.
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Chief Operating Officer, Civil Construction Division will primarily focus on integrating the new acquisitions into MacKinley-Clark Paving Ltd. and drive growth through the individual businesses and combined Civil Construction Division that also includes Odanah Truck Line Inc. You will be responsible for providing leadership, driving strategic planning, managing business operations, supporting merger and acquisition activities, and mentoring a dedicated team. You will seize existing economic opportunities, create new opportunities, and represent the sole shareholder’s best interests during all business activities and partnerships.
Balancing time between ensuring existing business operations continue to run smoothly/generate profits and assessing, closing and integrating new business acquisitions and opportunities, your mandate will be to grow the enterprise and generate superior returns for the Gambler First Nation ownership. While the primary role will be to focus on the day-to-day operations and growth of the foregoing portfolio of civil construction/transportation companies, the company also has business interests in the retail, fuel and land development sectors and some work will be needed to oversee some of those business assets.
As the ideal candidate, you will bring a successful track record of operational leadership and general management in a civil/road construction company or an industrial contracting business with good parallels. You also bring business integration expertise, revenue growth accomplishments, and experience supporting operational due diligence of promising acquisition prospects. Strong leadership skills highlighted by a coaching and mentoring style and a history of driving operational efficiencies and top-line revenue growth will ensure your success.

The salary for this position is in the $225,000-$250,000 range plus a bonus.
