Labourer - Public Works Department

Gambler First Nation is seeking a dedicated and hardworking individual to join our team as a Labourer in the Public Works Department. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to the well-being of our community while enjoying the beauty of the outdoors and taking on diverse responsibilities. The hours are as follows:

-9-12, 1-4:30, Mon-Fri (closed Friday of Pay weeks); and

-Hours are flexible and may require emergency work during the weekends and after office hours.

Duties and responsibilities:

As a Labourer in the Public Works Department, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks related to community infrastructure and maintenance. Your main duties will include:

  • Sanitation: Assisting in waste collection and disposal, ensuring a clean and healthy environment for our community members.
  • Road Maintenance: Participating in snow removal to keep our community safe and accessible.
  • Water Hauling: Operating water hauling equipment to ensure a steady water supply to our community.
  • Minor Building Maintenance: Assisting with minor repairs and upkeep of community buildings and facilities.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Conducting basic maintenance and cleaning of tools and equipment to ensure their reliability.

Qualifications/Requirements Essential

  • Possession of a Class 5 driver's license is a requirement.
  • Possession of a Class 3 driver's license is a strong asset.
  • Physical fitness and a willingness to perform repetitive tasks outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Clear Driver’s Abstract and Criminal Record Check
